Missing one our gigabit boxes, so seeding's going to be a bit slower today... Help out by xdcc'ing it and seeding if you can!
Update: V2'd for the weird video colors and some typos. Episode 5v2 XviD is here
Shame on you if you don't know who Nakamura Yuuichi is by now:

Thanks for the release!

Thanks!

> fallout new vegas SKIDROW
lmao
Well Mazui is an ironic name for a good fansubber too though; I don't know if Afro is good till I see some comments.
@Afro Subs website
Been searching around and I can't find it either.
Reminds me of Coal Guys' start.
@Mazui
Xvid please?
sorry mazui bros but afro this week
wish gg picked this up

Which means they're shit.
silly 56k users
Been waiting all week to watch this. Thanks Mazui! Will watch and then wait for the XviD, too.
And sux about one of the boxes. 'Tis too bad I don't use IRC, otherwise I'd seed thar.
mazui confirmed for shit-tier
mazui confirmed for shit-tier"
So where's the better version that you made?
Keikaku means plan.
(Translator's note: keikaku means plan)
Thanks Mazui subs!
I have an old video card and PC, too. I can watch 720p without a problem tho. I use K-Lite Codecs pack, and I turn the deblocking and internal sub off when I do the install. You can also use IOBit's "Game Booster" to turn off unnecessary processes while you watch. Best of luck.
WHY IS THE COLOR SO FADED?
Compare to other encodes, or even the past Eps by Mazui... The color in ep.5 encode seems to be faded and not as vibrant. Kinda takes away from it.
New settings??
Should be done in 30 mins.
Thanks again Mazui
getting tired
I wouldn't mind a v2 with better encode later on if possible.
Also, VLC is a joke in terms of quality. Try CCCP+CoreAVC.
Much appreciated
JC, no it's def the encode.
I have ep 5 by Himatsubushi and their OP colors are an exact match to Mazui ep 4 OP.
To compare, pause OP at a point where the diagonal yellow stripe crosses the screen with the jap text (0:44 in ep 4, 0:27 in ep5).
You wanna put out an oil fire, Sir, you set off a bigger explosion right next to it. Sucks away the oxygen. Snuffs the flame. - Captain Price
0:16:16.49 - I don't think everything they say is a lie.
0:16:19.68 - But I don't think all the otaku bashing is completely untruthful either.
as "they" seems to refer to the media and/or the specific reporter, who seem to be otaku bashing, the two statements agree, and "but" should not be used - I suggest either using "and" or "nor do I think" instead. Also, a little confusing due to double negatives.
00:21:03.78 - We in love with each other!
What you say!?
1.Yuichi from Clannad
2.Greed from Full Metal Alchemist
6. Minor character from School Rumble? Higurashi?
rest: no clue
it just..... '_'
1. tomoya (clannad)
2. greed (brotherhood)
3. alto (macross f)
4. ikuto (shugo chara)
5. aker (gundam 00)
6. abe (ookiku)
7. ryuu (kimi ni todoke)
8. dunno
9. kouichi (zettai karen)
10. kuugen (oinara-sama)
not here
11. hodr (break blade)
12. kodata (drrr!!)
because nakamura yuuichi is win!
Sometimes there's just nothing to be done about a bad situation no matter what kind of looks you're getting from someone you're trying to help. You've gotta know where to draw the line and give back a look that says, "Sorry, you're on your own; you leave me out of this."
I hope Ayase isn't going to be a big character in this. Though I guess her being one would make sense, unfortunately. >_>
I think it use "but" cause of the untruthful...
Then again I'm not native english speaker so I'm not too sure...
8. akira (dance in the vampire bund)
I woke up my neighbors laughing when that showed up, you should have just left it untranslated and thrown a troll face into it
To make a long story short, the colours only appear that way due to the intent of the director not Maizui's encoding process. If any other group does not seam the same as Maizui it is probably because they alter the colour values during their encode, thus saturized the hell out of scenes that otherwise did not need it.
Also using VLC and not using CCCP will make anything look sub-par. I would suggest that you update you codecs and get MPC now.
Wrong colorspace, simple as that.
Read it up on wiki.
Even the OP has washed out colors. Requesting v2 please. If it's not the encode, an explanation as to why the colors look like that would suffice.
Colors are totally awful and need to be fixed with a V2.
You can see this is an encode or source problem, just look at first frame which is supposed to be back and here it's Grey!?
As a temporary fix this is what can be done:
On Video decoder:
Force Input Levels = TV / 16-235
Force Output Levels = PC / 0-255
This will make it much brighter, not perfect thus why it'll be redone without level problems.
My apologies. Didn't notice it until I watched the episode after release because I only checked some dark scenes during.
1. Tomoya Okazaki (Clannad)
2. Greed (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
3. Alto Saotome (Macross Frontier)
4. Ikuto Tsukiyomi (Shungo Chara!)
5. Graham Aker (Gundam 00)
6. Takaya Abe (Big Windup!)
7. Ryu Sanada (Kimi ni Todoke)
8. Akira Kaburagi (Dance in the Vampire Bund)
9. Koichi Minamoto (Zettai Karen Children)
10. Male Kugen Tenko (Wagaya no Oinari-sama)
All voiced by the famous Yuichi Nakamura.
The problem was caused simply by Coreavc's automatic input/output levels settings. It shrunk the input range, and expanded it back to tv for output twice.
So the resultant was Y U and V all compressed into a much smaller working range and then 0-16 / 236-255/240-255 added on top.
This happened twice (aka trolled twice by 2 x264 lossless decodes)
Basically it was wrong color level (this ep uses bt.601 which should have been bt.709 as it is HD).
I confused the colorspace term and that, whatever it's actually called.
CMIIW
i got this through the ddl link..
was wondering y isnt the title of the epi subbed?
Done and done. ;)
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/1120
You'll also notice that the lines are way thinner in this release, please fix this too.
and Himatsubushi will probably be a very long time before they'll ever finish volume 2. I'll be very surprised if they release 2 chapters during the Oreimo run over the next 7 or so weeks.
If I need to filter my anime I'll do it myself, please do not alter it with destructive filter if you can.
Sorry if I'm wrong though.
I remember when fansubs were done on VHS and ppl were just grateful to be able to see them. Now it's all about scrutinizing the pixels. I can only imagine what the fanbase will be like in 10 years...
"Dude, the VR pheromone level was off and that did not smell like her at all! Also there was a drop in the stimulation setting in ep 4 compared to ep 5. You guys suck a holoencoding!"
BTW, can't wait til next ep! Manami-chan! =)
I know it's group policy regarding filtering but can't I voice my opinion here?
It happens to me sometimes. Just reinstall the codec pack and it'll work.
I hope you read this before downloading the whole video again. ^^
Also, if you are using CCCP and it just happens that you are not getting subs navigate to Start>All Programs>Combined Cha Cha Player (lol)> settings
On the Settings window, click Next
On the next Window, Check Re-Register Filters.
It will re-register filters. If you do not trust me about this one, Filters are the following: Haali, fddshow and VSFilter. If you do not know what the hell I am talking about, you may do it, It will just reassociate all the filters to the players so it will open automatically once the player needs it to.
Trust me or if you want, try your own solutions. But if your solution is switching to K-lite, I can't help you anymore as I don't plan touching on that very bloated codec pack. Come on, In most cases, Media Player of choice + CCCP is enough. Don't be tough, We are tougher. CCCP. XD I enjoy writing.
Try uploading your ep file on the torrents, if something is wrong with file you should get wrong checksum or something. At least you'll now whether it's videofile problem or not.

One of these things is not like the others...
Anyway thanks for the subs.
"We in love with each other"
Every filter is destructive in its own way, encoding itself is a destructive process. It's all about minimizing what damage is done, and attempting to recover what couldn't be minimized.
The lines are definitely drawn softer in general on episode 5, I thought it looked a bit weird so I went and double checked myself and low and behold it was the case. I spent a couple of hours making small adjustments to my filtering chain to compensate for the finer lines. I put the x264 encode on before I left to work so I'll double check it tonight before I upload it for release.
Well, for the first time you were mazui.
But despite the name you're one of the best subs.
Can't wait the v2, tho.
I just checked to see if there was really a difference between 4 and 5, and to my surprise, there was! Turns out ep 5 has BETTER quality. Four seems more "vivid", but that's probably couse they changed some parameters, to compensate the quality.
Jesus, just shut the fuck up, please.
Thanks for confirming it, I do think that Mazui's release usually is the better looking one compared to other.
If it weren't for that comparison picture I wouldn't notice it either.
Your work is of course, much appreciated. :)
@soul
No, you STFU, you don't know what you're talking about.
They admit the release is screwed up, that is more honorable than people like you white knighting thing you don't even have a clue about.
Here's the same frame from both the ts and v2 encode. I copied the from exactly as is from both the ts & mkv with DgIndexNV as to make sure the levels were untouched.
http://img836.imageshack.us/i/oreimo05tskirinonekopos.png/
http://img51.imageshack.us/i/kirinonekopose.png/
First one is the transport stream, I've corrected the display aspect ratio to 1920x1080 with Paint.net because the frame is encoded at 1440x1080.
Second one is from the v2 encode.
Luma & Chroma Levels look right this time around o/ I'm also happy I managed to prevent the banding that is present in the lounge cushion in the transport stream! I'm pretty sure the previous encode had it slightly visible, dark gradients are so troublesome to work with and stop banding.
There is a slight diff in the line thickness but it's very minimal at best, most likely as a result of smoothing which is required to clean up a lot of the blocking/banding causing artifacts in some scenes. I made sure to sharpen the lines up pre-smoothing to prevent it best I could. I didn't want to do any more sharpening at a later stage because there's a good chance it would have caused more problems than good in some frames.
I can say I'm pretty happy about how this encode came out. That's my honest opinion, for only the second encode of an Ore no Imouto episode that I've done, it's come out much better than I anticipated.
The broadcast has it's share of problems, but it's quite decent in comparison to some of the other shows the least few seasons. Other than a few too many ghosted frames on scene changes that were caused when they pulled the video down (hard elecining to 29.97fps) for broadcast, the usual mpeg2 compression artifacts and interlaced ending credits, i'd say its reasonable.
Sorry for the long reply, just wanted to make sure you guys had a clear and honest post to read. I feel bad I had to make Ul release a v2, so I tried my best to make it nicer than the last one as an apology for messing up. Even though it wasn't directly my fault for the screw up, it was definitely mine for missing such an obvious problem when qc'ing the final encode. I checked a couple of frames in dark scenes and thought it seemed ok but obviously if I'd checked normal scenes I'd have spotted it.
/insert mechanical breathing sound and theme music
That looks nice, though If I'm to nitpick, some of the detail got destroyed (the sofa intersection) and the line is a tad too thin for my taste. That if I was to nitpick though. (I won't I won't) :P
I tried my prefered filter chain on that TS screenshot and imo it came out nicely (maybe a bit too clean and sharp but that reflect my personal taste). Take a look here :
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/4689/mine2m.png
It's a hella slow chain tho'
ar, even though I personally thought your first pass was fine, it's great that you have such an amazing attention to detail and go the extra mile to improve on it. Mazui surely does have a great group here!
Thanks! =)
Looks quite good, though a little too sharp for my liking personally, I prefer slightly duller more natural lines, but as you said that's more to your preference and that's cool!
If I had to nitpick as well, I'd say the cushion banding may become prevalent once encoded. x264 doesn't play too nicely with some debanding/dithering sometimes. I've had perfectly dithered/debanded scenes in the lossless become banded all over again in an encode!
http://img233.imageshack.us/f/kirinonekoposeavsplossl.png/
http://img177.imageshack.us/f/kirinonekoposeavspx264.png/
x264 @ crf 19 for v2 vs the lossless filtered source. For a 377mb encode vs a 20gb lossless, x264 does a pretty great job at times. There's some obvious differences, but I've never seen an encode look the same as the source unless the encode is massive.
Yes i realize that but i found a way to minimalize the disperancy between the intended and the encoded result.
Since my script is hella slow it's actually slower than the slowest x264 setting minus tesa so I can go crazy with the setting (preset placebo tune animation, just don't use tesa, umh is plenty). This make the result to be very close to what I intended it to be.
Also the sharpness is fully tuneable but I like it that way (I acutally had toned it down for this example). I like my anime sharp harhar. ;)
No, it's right as is because he's referring to how he's giving up every bit of his treasured normal-ness to help out Kirino and ending up *looking like* a perverted siscon idiot of a brother.
Also thanks you peoples here at Mazui! You all are great!
If it's for your sister's computer, however, then just tell her to download CCCP (or MPlayer for Mac).
check if your sister's DVD Player can read xvid files first then either
a.)download the xvid version
b.)convert the mkv version
I mean, I think Kyou just needed to say "She watches anime hun, she's not a crack addict"
no, she watch anime, play "get laid with your underage sister" game, and read tentacle raep of underage magical girls.
she=a prestigious and basically perfect middle school girl, in japan.
do you even know how the world work in that country?
shame on me for only knowing 2 of them :(
These characters.. haha I didn't knew!
So he did also the voice for Ikuto~nyann ;3
AAH *nosebleed*
shame on me for only knowing 2 of them :(
Very effective banding removal! But a bit noisy for my taste. I think you have oversmoothed the low detail areas as side effect. Check for example the title screen:
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/1387
The drawing grain on the bottom part of the picture has totally disappeared. Also, the shadows in the upper left corner on the second screenshot have been blured too much. Oh, yes I'm nitpicking :) Note: the H264 file used in this comparison is 277 MB, so I think there is room for improvement (although the encoding took ages, like half a day).
Keep up the good work!
@IC DeaDPiPoL: Yeah it can play xvid, my internet is really slow and I have downloaded all the .MKV versions.
I need a program that converts the MKV to AVI or XVID like Mazui do.
keep up the good work Mazui, i appreciate all the effort that goes into keeping me a silent spectator
I'd recommend MediaCoder except its no longer opensource and tends to hijack your browser. However the subs it renders lacks styling.
Using it for porting the MKV -> xvid for my phone with the subtitles rendered to the video (not pretty but its legible under a phone screen).
Alternately there SUPER Encoder and Mencoder
> sentence-ending preposition.
No need for that 'at,' just thought I'd say.
shame on me for only knowing 2 of them :(
and where from?

On the other side v2 lost a lot of details and has strange color areas around saturated objects:

Watch the f***ing ANN streams?
kthx.
I don't think any more episodes have been aired yet, so it's impossible to give you a yes or no answer... unless someone's already read the light novel.
On a side note, I just realised how much a mouthful the title is o_O
IMO, Manami will be his love interest, which will get complicated with the misunderstandings concerning his sister.
I'm just guessing, not saying that is how it will go.
(answer to your further questions)
yes
yes
no
forget it -_-
no one has read the light novel and can give a clear decision on whether it is or is not because the light novels not done..and the main volume that can tell us whether it is or isnt (probably) is coming out later this month
I feel famous now...
Yes, I watch this anime, and plenty of others too :D
Who might you be though? You seem to know me, but I don't know you (at least I don't think I do o_O (different user-name perhaps?)).
@anonymous
Hmm... didn't know the light novel isn't finished. My bad. I don't keep up with that stuff :S
Thinking about getting into them though, as some of my favourite animes are adaptations of light novels.
wut you mean with who I might be? -.-
how many 00cheesy00's are there? o_O
To my knowledge I only know of one "o0MrCheesy0o", and that's me.
You wrote:
"LOL I had no Idea you watched this anime too mrs cheesy xD"
Implying you know me (I don't see anyone else with a "cheesy" in their name, so I'm assuming that was directed at me, though it's "Mr" not "Mrs"), but I don't recall ever knowing or seeing a Yolox. So, how do you know me? o_O

Wow... that's kinda freaky... O_O
I think he's a time-traveller >_>
Loving the Ore no Imouto subs. Wouldn't touch another group.

PS: I hope daylight savings time didn't screw up the raw.
You realize Japan doesn't use DST, right?
http://tenhou.net/cs/201011ko/title.jpg
Not very usual to have the very own encoder to step up and make a detailed explanation of the process (to the ones who don't understand the work is takes) and correct himself.
Made me happy to be a Mazui-group fan.
If only some groups would be as polite as this, we wouldn't have trolls posting in the comment section insulting other peoples work.
I knew that Japan doesn't use DST, but I thought someone maybe records it via satellite elsewhere. However I didn't know about the 30 hours/day clock conversion. Can I have a link so that I can read more about that.
I'm pretty sure the 30h per day is a joke.
Just that DST is not a universal thing. Heck, if it was, could us North Americans have changed ours just like that?
