as for the episode. Yay, I like Manami, the anime has been screwing her over pretty bad. Shes drawn pretty fugly compared to the manga, and gets much less screen time. Hopefully this makes up for it! =D

Anyway, even the original author put a note in the manga commenting that manami looks much cuter there. Personally, I think that an ultra-cute manami(for some conventional definitions of cuteness, anyway) misses the point of her character - Kyouske is always ragging on about her looking plain, after all. She's got more of a quirky charm and homey naivete thing going.

As far as Manami goes i do like her having an arc with Kyosuke but since i got overdosed on mellow Romantic couplings over the years watching god knows how many of the same kind of animes in a different package, i guess i am not feeling the mushy feeling of a simple romantic situation anymore. Though the anime is still a work in progress if creators do wanna pursue Mani as a solid female lead they might need to add more spunk into her..but thats just my opinion.

Yea i hope so too, cause i really don't dislike her character, just something is a bit amiss about her. I mean yea she is a bit adventurous and i give her credit for that, but to pit her against an extreme tsundere like Kirino and extreme psychopath like Ayase(no offense intended to her fans, she comes out that way to me, at least for now) i feel like she needs more tweaks to her charm to make a solid impact. Then again as i said..its a series in progress so maybe they might simmer down their vices to the level of Manami's virtues. Who knows /shrug

Up until now I was never really interested in that kind of anime so I never watched any of them yet(and neither these two I'll ask about in next sentence).
You seem to have written them in alphabetical order. If so then why you didn't write down Clannad nor Kanon? Are they special?
And Mazui forum is a nice idea. But probably it will be too problematic considering trolls like commander'A...
Each has their own theme. Clannad is about family. Kanon is about making and keeping promises (even if they are forgotten, as the protagonist has partial amnesia).
I liked them both a lot, Clannad being my favorite. Air was ok, although I didn't think it was as good as those two. And Angel Beats goes without saying! =)
Hmm to answer that question of yours ill try to explain a basic concept of Japanese anime and mind you this comes from experience so i really cant link you a page to support my theory but here it goes anyway. Animes with angles of love are of two kinds, first is the Romance genre and the second is the Romantic Comedy genre. Now believe me many people out there who haven't explored the anime world much will simply say "ehh arent they the same pretty much?" but i shit you not there is a mass difference. Reason being Romantic comedies mostly poke light fun at the whole concept of love. There is seldom any bottom line or social message and concentrated more on humorous situations that arise from relationships. But when it comes to pure hardcore romance animes it demands your wholehearted attention and concentration cause the makers of the project take the concept very seriously and rarely like to include fantasy concepts in it..like lets say "Harem Ending". Animes like these always have a pretty heavy story line with a message to go along with it with little to no humor.
Coming back to your question..the reason i didn't include Clannad or Kanon for that fact is cause romance in these animes come no where near the type of romance in the animes i mentioned in my first post or even if they do for a while they drift away to a serious climax so yea you can say they are special.I also think i might have jumped the gun by mentioning "Air". I remember more vividly now that stuff in Air is pretty heavy too with a pinch of comedy here and there but it literally was an "overhead transmission" kind of deal for me. That's the main back draw of Japanese hardcore Romance...either it makes u cry or it makes u wanna throw a brick at your screen cause it just doesn't make any sense to your tastes.
So anyway ending this long ass post, lemme know what kind of genre mentioned above are you are interested in and ill post some more if they come to my head.
For me any Anime that focuses on romance as its main theme I usually end up disliking, because the actions of the characters defies common sense too much for any of them to be likable.
Pure sexual attraction ends up being selfish and nasty, so the show is about being being selfish and nasty and the end justifies the means. Common courtesy/genuine platonic affection/sympathy goes completely out the window.
I prefer romance as a side story.
The only exception for me is Koi Kaze; there is still selfishness and nastiness but somehow the characters still end up all being engaging and likable.

If i caught your drift right, i believe you are saying that from my perspective ,hardcore Romance animes have no comedy at all. If that is the case then i would like you to refer to my post and read it carefully once more. If not then here is the exact quote,

Yes i said no but i also said little. Reason being since you yourself said you never watched any serious romance i doubt ill be able to prove my point to you, but ill try to in brief. Take for instance the anime "Air". If you watch it from start to end you will find the story going past and forth into memories with emotions flying all over the place. Out of the whole 29 minutes per episode if you cut almost 3 minutes roughly for credits and all..the remaining 26 minutes comprise of 25 minutes of heavy storyline evolving whilst while i would say roughly 1 minute or less of light humor surfacing here and there now and again and mind you that doesn't happen in every episode. Now i don't know about someone else but personally i was so engulfed in trying to understand the plot that my braincells rarely got tickled by the humor that came along.
So yea you don't really have to prove me wrong cause you misunderstood my statement.Some more examples of animes like this would be Saiunkoku Monogatari and Shuffle if you want more examples for references.
(not referring to Shuffle! Memories, as that series was just "perspective recaps" except for the last ep which was new.)

I understand your pursuit of a theory like that cause honestly on a personal level you are 100% accurate. In the end its all about what we like and what we don't for ourselves irrespective of the genres.
But..here we have a different predicament seeming a new genre fan wants input on the various series that fall into romance section. Honestly from my experience i have found that 2 hardcore fans of the same kind of genre might not share love for the same animes. To explain it simply in an example..if i hate "Tragedy" in a romantic anime, i might dislike "Kanon" or "Air" so to say but as a fan of the same kind of animes someone else might not so yea classifications are kind of necessary answering queries like that.
