Hyouka 22 Finale

Seeing a series end is always bittersweet for me, especially for one as good as this. On the one hand I'm glad to see it come to a close rather than just hang, but on the other hand I could totally do this for another 6 months. I hope you've enjoyed watching Hyouka as much as I've enjoyed subbing it.

I just want to thank you and Mazui for subbing Hyouka. One of the better shows to come out in a long time. I hope Mazui continues to be a top tier subgroup for next season as well. That being said, have you considered if and what you guys are planning to pick up for next season? For your fans, I pray that Mazui has gotten in touch with UTW and RORI (someone informed me that rori and mazui are together and if so, thats awesome) in order to not pick duplicate shows. I would hate it if I had to choose between UTW or Mazui to watch a show. If RORI is independent of Mazui, then here's some info. Tentatively RORI Fansubs is picking up Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! and Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo.

It's a shame to see the series ending, enver thought i'd enjoy a series where the MC was lazier than me. But was the only show I watched the episode as soon as it was released, usually save all the series and wach them all together.

Hyouka a wonderfull anime, i hope they will make a second season but for that we have to wait at least two years of so. HYOUKA points: 10/10 for sure.

Starting at 5:30 there was the slickest example of keigo (in group/out group, honorifics, status) I've ever seen in an anime. That was a good example of why you stick like glue to local friends when visiting higher echelon private sites in Japan. And instinctively they'll stick like glue to you when visiting your haunts as well. ^^ Most people don't seem get that.

Admittedly Commie's subs read more smoothly and use a somewhat richer vocabulary but they also seem too westernized. Mazui's are frequently terse and choppy but so is the original Japanese. This really shows up when comparing the translations for the keigo exchange between the old man and Oreki at around 5:30. Mazui has it about right but the rationale for all the exaggerated bowing kata business seems lost in Commie's rendition, neh?
