I'm seeing a highly probable relationship happening between Otonashi and Tachibana. The two with mysterious pasts, getting her meal ticket out of all the ones scattered about, and his apparent ease at speaking to her compared to the others.

I love the character development in this. It's kind of hard to pick a favorite char cause every ep someone else shines brighter than the others!

thewizardninjaI'll be honest that I didn't really find the previous episode as funny as you did but this episode had me in tears XD

Also I have to give Key massive kudos for the way this episode was done and OMG I get to use spoiler tags ^^
I mean just think for a moment how you'd feel if you were given a 0 for EVERY ONE OF YOUR EXAMS because some asshole handed in a bunch of joke papers with your name on it, only to be followed with losing your position on the student council because of it. Just look at the size of the book of notes she had written that she looked at before each test! She would have put a ton of effort into those exams and it would all be for naught. They just ruined a student's school life but we're too busy laughing at the rocket propelled chairs to care. Fantastically done Jun Maeda, I'll never doubt you again

As for Tenshi, I really don't think she's any bit sad. Sadness and joy are just approximations for some emotions chosen to be templates. To force such emotional axis on this, apparently, existentially strong person is a lost case, a dogma.
She might have even more devastating memories than Yuri. And then Otonashi might have yet even worse ones.
I look forward to further unfolding of the plot.

"Ending" chapter mark makes even less sense this time compared to last episode mkv. :)

I went from laughing so hard that it hurt to heart broken for Tachibana Kanade. Key is going to whip us like bad little kids with these emotional boomerangs

P3I think there was a P3 reference, when Otonashi imagined of Angel's assault scene. It seems they need to get Otonashi imagine something in every episode lol.
It was really cute when Tachibana calmed Otonashi by saying "it's okay". She's cute and small! Someone should make a yonkoma with Tachibana and Katanashi in it.

Still, I'm probably not the only one who thinks Angel is going to be in the group shot by the end of the series. (My theory? She's like the rest of them, and has a goal that is just as impossible as "Kill God", so she can't pass on either, but decided to help others pass on. Somewhere along the way an entire mythos grew from this, and she decided to play along because she hopes that "killing an angel" will satisfy Haruhi's need to beat God and pass on. Also, the trees were shaking because of epileptic fits.)
