I've looked at zero-raws' version and it looked like hd. And AXTHD is written in its name. I thought it was hd but in actually it is not? There's still no hd version of the show?

That said this was actually a bit of a disappointment, decent but not good. The narrator actually pisses me off majority of the time, I'd like to have my own opinion thank you. I don't need a running commentary of the anime I'm watching. Hope it gets some character development and I'll be happy.

I'm really with you on the narrator thing. I think it's a cheap gimmick - I much prefer to learn about things over 4-5 episodes than have everything explained to me.
The narration isn't the only thing either - introducing each character's (annoying) gimmick in the first episode just made it feel incredibly rushed, with no depth.
I also really dislike the narrator's voice - I'm wondering now if that's the reason I disliked Kuroko so much (but I think it's a combination of the character and her VA).

Just one thing, the SD version is kinda big in resolution wise compared to other SD versions.

Sure - but it's a gimmick that I happen to find extremely annoying. It's just one of the elements of the show that I didn't enjoy - it might be that if the other elements were good, the narration might have also been OK. The very unsubtle references to childrens' stories was also something I found grating.
Parody can be excellent - but for me, not in this case. I'm feeling about this much the same way that I felt about Excel Saga (which I never finished). I actually suspect that it's because the characters are nothing *but* parodies - I don't believe in them.
I don't want to take away from anyone else's enjoyment of the show - I just think that this isn't going to be a show that I'm going to keep watching. I'm hoping that the second episode proves me wrong.

the main character is a tsundere with a young, moe protagonist, working for a group of individuals that serve the greater good in some aspect....oh, and just to show how linear the plotline is: sometime in the near future of an upcoming episode, a sinister plot created by bad guy that is engrossed in his own image is going to challenge this group with an evil and diabolical outcome. they will be tested emotionally and physically and will have to come together as a team to stop it. maybe a love twist will happen, but i suppose that they will just keep their love between eachother a secret. because she is tsundere and he has the guts of a guppy.

btw, the ONLY difference is that these group of kids arent superpowered/espers/mutants. except for ookami-san. she is superhumanly tsundere, like sakura-chan.

I mean, you think Toma could go hand to hand with Okami? No way, and you know why that is? Because her breasts are much smaller than Biribiri, hence she's better at close range combat. Sure, if Misaka wanted to, she could fire her Railgun at him he'd be dead, hence her large breasts (in comparison) makes her more proficient at range. It's simple anime logic.
And might I add, I have not seen and skirt lifting of the moe character or boob grabbing in the shower stall yet, so so far the plots are completely different... ;)
(Yes, Kuroko added much of the depth to Railgun ::sighs wistfully:: At least she can still grab a good glare in this one as well!)
All kidding aside, the one thing that did stand out to me is that Morino looks a lot like Inami-chan from Working!! Maybe a polar opposite twin brother? ;)

On a different note, since the story is a parody on children's books, I'm still trying to figure out how does the president and the maid's names connect to the theme of the anime.
The english translation for the title is (mr.)Wolf and the Seven Friends.
All of Ookami's associates give her a male title, and she talks as if she were a man as well, hence Ookami-san.
No offense - I think we're all discussing rationally here. Simple thing is that some shows will appeal to some people, but not to others. As Explain says, if I don't like it I'll watch something else (it's not as though I don't have some 400-odd anime DVDs sitting on my shelves ...).
In my case, I like analysing *why* it didn't appeal to me.
I'm still hoping it'll improve, but won't be upset if it doesn't - I'll drop it and wait for the next thing.
On the other hand, while my first impression wasn't amazingly good, it's not offensively bad either; most shows seem to be either one or the other. It's watchable and I got a few chuckles, so surewhynot? Keep up the good work, Mazui.
I watched To Love-Ru season 1 and OVAs and even after the last ep, Peke still registered as Kuroko to me. I guess I'd say that will probably be the role Arai will be best known for.

pipe tobacco. alot of anime has a similiar, linear plotline. my issue is that alot of anime is predictable. i just find it funny that not only is this anime following a similar plotline, but the characters are startling correlations to another mazui fansubbed anime.

I don't quite get your reasoning. I get that "tsundere with young moe protagonist" is BiriBiri with Kuroko(although I don't think Kuroko is moe, but w/e) and this "group of individuals" is in some way similar to Judgment(except that Railgun isn't member of it, but who cares...).
And... that's it. I don't see anyone having crush on Misaka Mikoto. I don't see Ookami-san having crush on anyone (yet) and I don't see her being a tsundere, neither.
I will have to give you some credit if the plot will unveil in way you said, though.
About the episode:
I think something along what Arcc said. It's not amazing, but I wasn't yawning from boredom either. Maybe it doesn't look that good because I have watched Angel Beats! and Ookami-san just don't stand a chance being compared with AB!.:P
of course....i agree that different person, different pov, different opinion....

Yeah he's just adding -su at the end of his sentences. He's basically saying -desu (think of that certain meme girl who says desu at the end of everything) and just dropping the de. I think it's used to sound young and cool, since teenagers often use it.
(I agree with anonymous/dangi/klakket, we need a good team for HOTD).
And loving Ookami-san, even the narrator that so many people seem to hate XD
Since Angel Beats is gone you need another high brow anime that's worthy of your time. Angel Beats had its flaws, but you can't deny animation was great and story was amazing (even though they could have done more). So go with HOTD!
Otherwise, I'll be using CoalGuys' subs.

This is where Coalguys excel. Their subs are immaculate in terms of the way they phrase and interpret the things that the people are trying to say. For instance, when seeing your friends being turned into zombies, even though the literal translation may be "No way...", Coalguys would say "WHAT THE FUCK?!?!" because that is what one of us would say in that situation. For some reason, most fansub groups can't understand this concept, and it's really quite sad.
But anyways, I can't tell you what to do. Chances are you won't sub HOTD anyways. But if you did, I'd still watch your subs because Mazui rocks. =)

That's just a matter of preference. They understand what they're doing, and subbing it that way intentionally. I personally like how Coalguys translates that way.
...Yeah, I know. :P But I really like it that way. I mean, B Gata H Kei was soooo funny thanks to Coalguys and their amazing interpretation of the dialogue. And HOTD is shaping up to be that way too. I'll be pretty sad if they drop it, but if Mazui picks it up, it'd be amazing too, I'm sure. I prefer Coalguys for this type of anime though. I'd never wanna see Coalguys doing Angel Beats though. It just wouldn't fit.

This would be a good "Did you know" for many people.
HSOTD sucks. It is fourth-rate excrement from a slug. It deserves to be thrown into the gutter and left as the kibble it is, per Philip K. Dick. Its very mention brings vomit to my teeth.

Angel Beats! is a sequel to the light novel Angel Beats! Track Zero. It might not be a direct adaptation from the light novel like the other series here, but get your fact straight.
And like I said, it would be an interesting trivia. Not that it will hold true forever, who knows.

On the other hand, Ookami-san looks worth watching. I couldn't help seeing afterimages of other characters that looked almost exactly the same. Almost expected Ookami to blast a railgun at those thugs.

Sorry you feel that way :( I enjoyed the gore filled anime as it's the only zombie anime I've ever seen, and I loved the manga for the most part. (some pieces were boring)
It's just that with all the mind-numbing moe crap that's being shoveled out lately it's really refreshing to see a series that has everything a healthy male enjoys: Blood, gore and tits. It may be campy, it may be shameless but it's good zombie fun.

Angel beats is an original anime series. "Doesn't" know what you've been smoking, but any other 'light novel' series are spin-offs. Chronologically, the anime was in development before anything else (2007), so your statement might be interesting, but trivia it ain't. Straight enough for you?
